I love photography. Often when i'm looking at something I might be thinking that it would make a great painting. Some photos I know will become a painting. I might not get to paint it straight away but it's always on the back of my mind.
This is a miniature painting, acrylic on paper from my art diary.
I went on to use this photo for marketing purposes also.I had swapped design for accommodation at this fisherman's shack in Far North Queensland. The southern tip of the great barrier reef from the mainland. This photo was taken from the front lawn.
Good design means nothing without the right marketing. After years of designing and researching clients business you quickly learn the selling points. This photo of the sunset I used it paint but also for marketing purposes for the client on social media.

Another example of a photo memory painting is from a yoga and meditation retreat. I'd gone for a walk in our free time and found a hibiscus that had wrapped itself around an old frangipani tree. I wasn't even aware that Hibiscus plants had vine ability, so I took a photo.
An hour later the next guided meditation the teacher lead us through was about a vine that wrapped itself around your body. Synchronicity at work.
I came home to paint this.. and it sold so I painted it again for myself!

Acrylic on kraft board.

Another mini painting of the same memory - acrylic on wooden board.

One of my oldest pencil sketches from Blueys Beach at Forster (before kid's when I used to pack my own colouring in pencils and relax on the beach!)
