This painting is quite significant to me. I don't think that I could ever part ways with it or put a value to it. Most work I can put a price on it, but not this.

It was my first portrait after many years of painting skulls. Unknown to me at the time David was ill, i'd ben sharing the updates of this painting on social media and finished it on 29th November 2021 in the early evening. The following day I woke to messages that David had actually passed away that exact evening. Which I think came as a shock to everyone including me that he'd passed away. These events have lead to my new fascination with portraits and starting art classes.

Acrylic on wooden panel - Now framed. I had used Southern Ocean blue for his hair because the time I didn't have the right colour paints needed and it's one of my favourite colours.

David Dhalatnghu Gulpilil AM (1 July 1953 - 29 November 2021) - Australia's greatest artist and storyteller.
